TIPPU SULTAN CANNON

It is about 250 years old and made out of Gun Metal. The British captured the cannon, at Srirangapatnam (Mysore, Karnataka), in 1799, during the operations against Tippu Sultan.

Tippu sultan ruled the kingdom of Mysore from 10 December 1782 – 4 May 1799. Tippu introduced a number of administrative innovations during his rule. He is considered a pioneer in the use of rocket artillery. He fought fierce battles against the British in which he deployed numerous weapons including cannons and rockets. However,during the fourth Anglo-Mysore war, he was defeated and killed by the British on 4th May 1799.
