Sir George Stanley (1872 - 1934 AD)

It is an oil painting painted by Oswald Birly, a British artist in the 19th century. Sir George Stanley became the Governor in 1929 - 1934, Fort St. George, Madras presidency. The picture shows the Governor in standing position. In memory of his achievements in the post of Governor of erstwhile government, the government hospital in Chennai has been named as Stanley hospital.
